This section walks through how to create a time of use configuration for the onboard revenue grade meters within ZEFNET Chargers. This article's audience is primarily for Electric Utilities who want to collect energy into different registers to be uploaded to their Meter Data Management system or Customer Information System.
Step 1: Access the Metrology section within ZEFNET
If your ZEFNET software licence allows, you will see the Metrology module on the left hand side of the ZEFNET user interface, as seen below. Click on the Metrology module from the menu to display the Time of Use registers and Time of Use Groups (aka Rates or Schedules).
Step 2: Create the individual registers
The next step is to create the individual time windows (aka registers) that comprise your time of use rate (aka schedule). In this example below, the register is called "Rate C Super Off Peak-3". This rate exists between M-F 5am to 5pm.
Name the window, define the time window, and hit save.
Repeat until you have all your individual windows defined.
Step 3: Assemble the rate
Now you have created all your time windows (aka registers), they can be drawn into the Rate or "Time of Use Group". For the purposes of this example there are three registers that can be drawn into the new Time of Use group. By clicking on the downward arrow icon on the right hand side of the Time of Use Intervals area, you can select your predefined time windows.
Below is an example that has three register definitions added into the Rate:
Now your M-S definitions and Holidays have been brought into the Rate, the next step is to define the dates upon which holidays exist.
Step 4: Define Holidays
A key part of many rates is the definition of the holidays that a rate may apply to. By hitting Next after defining your rate, the next window is for holiday definition:
By clicking the + button on the top right hand corner of the grid, you will be allowed the ability to create either single days for a holiday, or a window of days for a holiday. Hit Save to complete the creation of a ToU Group (aka Rate).
Step 5: Assign the rate to devices
Now that the rate has been created, it needs to be assigned to devices. Browse to the Groups module, and then select the group type dropdown in the top right corner of the module:
Select the Billing option, and you will see a Time of Use group automatically created and associated with the Rate defined in the Metrology group.
Double click on the Time of Use of interest, and it will open the module displaying devices already associated with the group, but also with the ability to add new users to the group. Hit the + button as seen below, to add new devices into the group:
After adding a new device, the new ToU Register configuration is pushed down to the charger. Once received by the charger, the energy will start accumulating in the relevant registers (energy buckets).
Step 6: Device Review
By navigating to a specific device, you can review the data presented within the user interface that communicates your specific ToU setup for a given device. See below:
The calendar selector in the top right hand corner will drive the reading that are displayed in the Metrology window and data table.
